Cookie Policy

SoftenerCheck sets no cookies. It does not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB, and it loads no third-party scripts that could set anything. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to.

What is actually stored in your browser

URL fragment	Yes — not storage	The diagnosis flow records your position after the `#` in the address bar, such as `#check=power.bypass`. It holds only which answers were clicked. It is part of the address, not stored data, and browsers never send it to a server.
Browser cache	Yes — standard	Your browser caches pages, CSS and images as it does for any website, to avoid re-downloading them. This is normal browser behaviour that we do not control or read.

Why there is no cookie banner

Consent requirements apply to storing or accessing information on your device beyond what is strictly necessary. This site does neither. Displaying a banner asking permission for cookies that do not exist would be theatre, and would train people to click through prompts that do matter elsewhere.

Verifying Google Search Console ownership does not set cookies for visitors either, so that does not change this.

Note This page changes before advertising does, not after

Advertising would introduce cookies and similar technologies, and possibly personalised advertising. If SoftenerCheck adds advertising:

this page will list the actual cookies and storage used, by name and purpose;
a consent management platform will be operating for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland before ads are served there, so that consent is obtained before anything non-essential is set;
you will be able to change or withdraw your choice at any time;
the privacy policy and advertising disclosure will be updated in the same release.

The commitment is sequencing: the disclosure comes first, the advertising second. If this page still says no cookies, that is because there are none.

Controlling cookies yourself

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data, through its privacy or site-settings menu. Because this site sets none, blocking them will not affect anything here — the calculators and the diagnosis flow work exactly the same with all site data blocked.

Links to manufacturer sites

When you follow a link to a manufacturer's manual or support page, that company's own cookie practices apply from the moment the page loads. Many will show you their own consent banner. We have no control over what they set and no visibility into it.

The effective date above changes whenever this page does. See also the privacy policy.
