Privacy Policy

In effect from September 3, 2026. This policy will be revised — and dated — before any change to it takes effect.

What SoftenerCheck does not collect

• No accounts, logins, names, email addresses or postal addresses.
• No contact form. There is nothing here that submits data to us.
• No analytics of any kind. No Google Analytics, no alternative, no pixel, no beacon.
• No advertising, and therefore no advertising identifiers.
• No cookies set by this site.
• No browser storage — no localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB.
• No fingerprinting, profiling, tracking or cross-site measurement.
• No sale or sharing of personal information, because none is collected.

What happens when you use the calculators

The hardness, household size, iron and water use figures you type into the size calculator and the settings calculator stay in your browser. They are never transmitted anywhere, never written to storage and never logged. Close the tab and they are gone.

The diagnosis flow keeps your place in the page address after the # symbol — for example #check=power.bypass. That is a record of which answers you clicked, held in your browser's address bar so you can go back, bookmark or share a result. Everything after # in a URL is never sent to a web server by design. It contains nothing about you.

No third-party requests

Every stylesheet, script and image is served from softenercheck.com. There are no web fonts from Google, no CDN libraries, no embedded videos, no social widgets and no tag manager. Your browser does not contact any other company while reading this site.

Links to manufacturer manuals and support pages are ordinary links. Following one takes you to that company's site, where their own privacy policy applies — not ours. We have no control over and no visibility into what they collect.

Server logs

SoftenerCheck is a set of static files served by a web server. Like essentially every web server, it records standard request information — IP address, timestamp, the file requested, the response status, the user agent string, and the referring page where the browser sends one.

This is technical operations data, kept to serve the site, diagnose faults and identify abuse. It is not used to build a profile of you, is not combined with any other source, and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers. It is retained no longer than needed for those purposes.

If you contact us

If you write to the address on our contact page, we hold your message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it, and keep a record if it results in a published correction. We will not add you to a mailing list, and we will not pass your details to anyone else. Ask us to delete the correspondence and we will.

That mailbox is hosted by Google, so mail you send to it is handled under Google's terms and privacy policy in transit and at rest, the same as any message you send to a Gmail address. That is outside our control and worth knowing before you send anything sensitive — which this site never needs. A model number and a page URL are enough for a correction.

Your rights

Data protection law in various jurisdictions gives you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to a supervisory authority.

In practice we hold no personal data about visitors, so there is generally nothing to access or delete. If you have written to us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence and we will. To exercise any right, use the contact route above.

Children

This site is aimed at homeowners and tenants dealing with household equipment. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the effective date at the top of the page changes with it, and any material change will be summarised so returning readers can see what is different. We will not backdate a change or alter this page silently.
